LIVE GRAND FINAL SATURDAY 4th AUGUST 2012
Our unique charity Battle of the School Bands Competition is now into its 3rd year and this year will be bigger than ever before.
Infront of up to 1,500 people… which of the bands will leave their legacy in the LIVE GRAND FINAL at Rivermead Leisure Complex on Saturday 4th August??

Reading BlueCoat School / Henley College
FiveThirtyOne are a retro rock/pop band from Henley. With a fusion of influences – from The Beatles and Dire Straits, to You Me At Six and Greenday. In just 2 years, they have won Marlow FM Battle of the Bands 2011, gigged at venues such as “Norden Farm”. and have their first EP on itunes “Soul For Sale”. www.facebook.com/fivethirtyoneband
SUNDARA KARMA
The Oratory School
Sundara Karma consists of four 16-year olds who look to bring back the sounds of the 60s, but with a more contemporary edge. Their influences stretch from Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy to the more modern sounds of Mumford & Sons, Fleet Foxes and Kings of Leon. www.facebook.com/SundaraKarma
IONEYE
Marlborough School
Although their name suggests they might be towards the heavier side of rock, they are actually an indie band based in Oxfordshire. They are nfluenced by bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, to write all our own material. They hope to be recording some new tracks over the next year! MY EVEREST
Farnborough Hill School
My Everest are an all girl four piece formed in the autumn of 2011. Artists such as All Time Low, Avril Lavigne and McFly influence the bands writing style. The band began gigging in late 2011 and have since been gigging regularly. My Everest are based in the village of Finchampstead in Wokingham. Little Heath School
Chasing Waves are a 5 piece female fronted band, who formed in early 2012. Depite being new on the scene, already they have won Little Heath’s Battle of The Bands competition. If your band wins the competition this year we are going further than ever before to help you on the start of your musical career.
You will win the following:-
THIS YEAR 25% OF ALL PROFITS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL AND CYSTIC FIBROSIS. The reminaing profits will be ploughed back into the Academy to help us grow and help more talented teenagers write their own songs and form bands.
Once again, we were blown away by the awesomeness of all 10 semi finalists bands last night at The Jazz Cafe…
All the bands were fantastic and had their own style of music so the judging was extremely hard job to do.
But only 5 bands were allowed to progess to the next stage of the Battle of the School Bands 2012 Grand Final and they are .. in no particular order..

Congratulations to the top 5 bands for making it through to our historic Grand Final at Rivermead, Richfield Avenue on 4th August. You will be playing in front of up to 1,500 people [more on that later this month].
All the Judges wanted to congratulate the other 5 bands who didn’t make it through. Reading Rock Academy have offered to support you with studio time and gigging opportunities this year too so we will be in contact very shortly so keep UPBEAT and stay positive and good things are always around the corner.
